Man arrested for drowning six members of family

Khushwinder Singh, a resident of Suhavi village in Fatehgarh Sahab district, allegedly pushed seven people into Bhakra canal some days back. However, one woman identified as Jasmeen Kaur managed to swim her way to the banks, they said.

Police have recovered a car and Rs 36.70 lakh from him.

Fatehgarh Sahab SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu told reporters that divers have been put into action to locate the six bodies.

The victims were identified as retired Punjab police constable Gurmail Singh (70), his wife Paramjeet Kaur (60), their sons Gurinder Singh (30) and Rupinder Singh (35), Rupinder's son Jaskirat Singh (7) and his daughter Prabhsimran Singh (6).
