Man arrested for duping woman of Rs 59,000

Deepak Girdhar alias Ajay was arrested recently based on a complaint filed by one Madhubala that she was cheated of Rs 59,000 by a couple who introduced themselves as representative of HDFC Bank, police said.

In her complaint, she said one Ajay Arora and his wife Madia cheated her of Rs 59,000 by posing as HDFC Bank representative.

Ajay was arrested from Dilshad Garden, they said.

During his interrogation, Ajay told police that he used to first obtain cheques of petty amounts in the guise of necessary documents for obtaining loan, and then changed the amount mentioned in the cheque to bigger amount.

 

Police are looking for his wife who is still at large.
