A man who was impersonating the District Magistrate of Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh was arrested with 14 his accomplices today, police said.

Pradip Kumar Srivastav, who was pretending to be the DM of Ghazipur and was accompanied by 14 other persons, entered the chamber of Deputy Commissioner of Bokaro Umashankar Singh.

Srivastav told Singh that a private company had a proposal for setting up a power plant in Chandankiyari block of Bokaro district and sought the district administration's help to acquire land for the purpose.

On finding something amiss, Singh enquired about the batch he passed out.

A 2009 batch officer, Singh was confirmed that Srivastav was an impersonator when he replied that he graduated from the academy in 2009.

Singh immediately called the police who arrested Srivastav and his accomplices.

Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar Singh said that among the arrested were four from Ranchi and the rest of them hailed from Bokaro.

Further investigations were on, the SP added.
