A 30-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and killing the minor son of his paramour after a small tiff in Gujarat's Navsari district, police said today.

Kalpesh Rathod was in a relationship with Tinaben Rathod for the last two years after she divorced her second husband and came back to her parents' home, where she was staying with her mother Savitaben Rathod in Navsari town.

Kalpesh on the night of June 23 "abducted" Tinaben's four-year-old son Ganesh from her house after she refused to meet him stating that her son was asleep and could not be left alone, police said.

Later, he allegedly banged the boy's head with a heavy stone when the woman did not turn up to meet him and rescue her son. After killing Ganesh, Kalpesh wrapped the body and dumped it in to the Koyli creek in the city outskirts, police said.

However, the family of the "missing" boy identified as Ganesh did not approach the police fearing "disrepute" but launched a frantic search for him.

Meanwhile, police recovered the body under a bridge towards Mithila Nagari on Koyli Creek on Friday after which Tinaben formally lodged a complaint against the accused.

The accused Kalpesh was yesterday arrested after being charged under IPC sections 363, 365, 302 and 201, said A P Somaiya, in-charge police inspector at Navsari town.
