Police have arrested a man for allegedly kidnapping his stepdaughter's two-year-old son in outer Delhi's Nihal Vihar.

The two-year-old boy was rescued from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh on May 26, said M N Tiwari, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer).

After her first husband died three years ago, Santosh, the mother of the child, married one Avtar Singh.

Santosh has two children from her first marriage -- a 12 -year-old daughter and a two-year-old son.

Singh told Santosh that he cannot take care of her kids.

Santosh came to her mother Rajmati's home in Nihal Vihar and requested her to take care of her children. Her mother had got married to Ashok after her husband had passed away 15 years ago.

On May 25, Rajmati called her daughter and informed her that her son had been kidnapped.

Police found Ashok's actions suspicious and he was interrogated at length, he said.

During interrogation, he revealed that he had handed over the child to his neighbour Hari Ram who had taken him to Azamgarh. The boy was rescued from there.

He was not happy with the decision of his wife Rajmati to keep her grandchildren here at his house, the officer said.
