Man arrested for kidnapping three-year-old girl

A man trying to flee after kidnapping a three-year-old girl in South-East district was caught by a police constable, police said today.

The incident took place yesterday when Sabnam, a resident of Taimoor Nagar, was coming back home from her husband's meat shop along with her son Arsh and three-year-old daughter Farhim.

"Sabnam was carrying Arsh in her arms while Farhin was walking behind her. At one point, Farhin was almost 20 yards behind her mother when a man identified as Ashok Negi kidnapped her and tried to run away," DCP (South-East)Romil Baaniya said.

Baaniya said Farhim screamed, hearing her screams, Sabnam shouted for help and chased the man. Many local people and one Constable Lilu who was on patrolling duty in the area reached there and rescued the girl.
 

"Quick response of Constable Lilu and his presence and vigil in the area averted the incident and prevented the minor girl from being kidnapped," the DCP said.

The DCP also said that there was a huge gathering who resorted to beating the apprehended accused Ashok Negi, however, Lilu saved the accused too.

Police said that immediately area SHO along with staff too reached the spot and handled the situation.
