A 34-year-old man has been arrested along with an accomplice for allegedly murdering his father, a retired army captain, to acquire his property.
Lal Kamal Punj alias Sonu (34) and Dinesh Manik (30) were arrested recently after investigations revealed that the duo had allegedly killed Punj's father Parasram on October 21.
"Punj was staying with his father, who retired as an Honorary Captain with the army, till 2006. After marriage he shifted to Panipat in a rented accommodation.

"He was desperate to acquire all parental properties which include one house at Sudarshan Park and a plot measuring about 200 yards in Sec 23 Rohini," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Ranvir Singh.
On October 21, at 8.50 PM an information was received at Moti Nagar that a person (Parasram) has been injured near his house at Sudarshan Park and he had been taken to hospital.
On reaching the Hospital it was found that the doctor had declared him brought dead.
"During the investigation it was revealed that the deceased had retired from the army as Honorary Captain. He was earlier married to Usha who had left him with her children about 20 years back. The couple had two sons and a daughter. Parasram then married with Anita from whom he had one daughter," said Singh.
Parasram's son from his first wife Kamal Punj came under suspicion and on checking his call record, it was found that he was in constant touch with Danish Manik before the incident.
Local intelligence was collected and it was found that the deceased had strained relation with his son, police said.
The deceased was in total control of the entire property and nothing was given to Punj. Investigation further revealed that Parasram had bought a property at Chandni Chowk where both father and son were doing business of surgical equipments. To make fast buck, Punj allegedly sold the shop without informing his father.
"After this, the Parasram decided to transfer all his property in favour of Anita and disown Punj. The accused then conspired with Manik about a month before the incident and decided to eliminate his father so that he could acquire the entire property in Delhi which is worth more than Rs 2 crore," he said.
On October 21 about 8 PM Parasram was spotted by Punj and Dinesh Manik in the street. Manik stabbed him near to his residence. Both managed to flee from the spot on a motorcycle to Panipat. The motorcycle used in the crime has also been recovered, police said.
