A 29-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his 55-year-old landlady and robbing her of cash and jewellery at southwest Delhi's Bijwasan area, police said today.
The accused has been identified as Amit Singh Bhandari, who fled to Rajasthan after the incident was reported on September 22. He was finally arrested in Ajmer by a Crime Branch team, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said.
According to the police, Vimla Bhardwaj, wife of Ganesh Bhardwaj, Chief Accountant at Central Water Commission in New Delhi, was found murdered - with her limbs tied with a rope - at her Bijwasan residence on September 22.

The body was discovered by the son who came to check on her, and later reported the matter to the police.
During the initial phase of the investigation, the needle of suspicion pointed towards Bharadwaj's son and daughter-in-law with whom she did not have cordial relations.
However, the probe took a new turn when it emerged that Bhardwaj had rented out several premises and one of her tenants was not seen by anyone after the incident.
When his call records were examined, it turned out that Bhandari was in Kapashera area after the incident and later on in eastern Uttar Pradesh and finally at Ajmer.
When Bhandari was tracked down and questioned, he broke down and confessed to the crime. He further disclosed that he was going through a severe financial crunch and wasn't in a position to pay his house rent.
He allegedly killed the landlady with the help of his associates Ashwani, Chuttan and Ajju, who are still at large, said Yadav.
"All accused have been booked for the murder. A dedicated team is looking out for the absconding ones," he added.
