A man, along with his friend, was arrested today for allegedly killing a street vendor leader who beat him up for urinating in public.
Nand Lal Rai alias Babloo Rai, resident of Ghazipur district, was arrested for shooting dead secretary of Ferry Patari Thela Vyavasayi Sangh Pramod Nigam (60) on January 17 here, Senior Superintendent of Police Nitin Tiwari.
Nigam and his son Abhishek had beaten up and abused Rai in public for urinating on a roadside near the Jawahar market, he said.

Acting on a tip off, Rai was arrested near the Ghanti Mill here, along with one of his friend Sheshnath Sharma who too was present with him but he was not aware that Babloo was going to shoot the leader, the SSP said.
Police have recovered a .30 bore pistol used in killing the leader from the possession of Rai. The motorbike has also been seized, he said, adding the duo has been sent to jail.
During interrogation, Rai confessed that he shot dead Nigam hours after being stopped and beaten up for urinating on the roadside by the leader and his son as he felt insulted, Tiwari said.
The accused, who had consumed alcohol four hours before committing the crime, had also planned to kill the leader's son but he was not present with his father at the time of incident, the SSP said.
Rai worked as a contractor and supplied diesel to mobile towers.
He had also earlier worked as a bodyguard of the slain BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai, Tiwari added.
