A 26-year-old youth from Sahapur taluka here has been arrested on alleged charges of brutally killing his friend and seriously injuring another on the New Year eve, district rural police said today.
PI ND Salkhe of Sahapur police station told PTI today that accused Anand P Rathod was held last evening for murdering his 24-year-old friend Mangesh N Dongre, after a quarrel during a party to ring in the New Year at joint in Valshej village.
Rathod, allegedly attacked Dongre with a knife in an inebriated state inflicting multiple wounds resulting in his death on the spot while another friend Ubal B Rathod, was badly injured in the squabble, police said.
Ubal is undergoing treatment in a local hospital.
Police has charged the accused under section 302 and 307 of the IPC.
