A man has been arrested here for attempting to cheat a lawyer by alegedly posing as a personal assistant to the state health minister, police said today.
The accused, identified as Jasmuddin called the lawyer Vinod Singh yesterday over phone and introduced himself as the PA to the Rajasthan Health Minister Rajendra Rathore and said he has asked a doctor, who is treating Vinod's senior Bhawani Singh, to take good care of him.
Soon after, Jasmuddin called him again and said that he urgently needed Rs 3000 and that he will meet him near the district court's gate, police said.
"Moments later, Jasmuddin met Singh and asked him to hand over the money. When Vinod and other lawyers inquired him and asked to prove his identity, he failed to establish his identity as said earlier," following which he was arrested, Investigating Officer Himmat Singh said.
