A man was arrested today for allegedly raping and murdering a minor girl in Hasanpur village here.
Accused Vinod Kumar took the 12-year-old girl to a nearby field on Wednesday night and raped her there and later strangulated her to death after she tried to raise alarm, Circle Officer Sudhir Tomer said, adding the incident took place when the victim's family were celebrating marriage.
Kumar, who is a neighbour of the girl, has confessed his crime, he said.
