Man arrested for raping minor in Punjab

A man was arrested today for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl in Narur village here last year who later gave birth to a girl child, police said.

Jatinder Singh (26), of Panchhat had allegedly raped the girl, a resident of a nearby village, in July last year. The victim later gave birth to a girl child, Phagwara DSP Manpreet Singh Dhillon said.

On the victim's complaint, a case under sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal breach of trust) of the IPC and sections 4, 8 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, was registered against an unknown accused on July 12, he said.
 

Inspector Joginderpal, SHO of Rawalpindi Police Station in this district and Panchhat Police Post in-charge, ASI Daljit Singh investigated the case and traced the absconding accused who was arrested today, Dhillon said.

Jatinder was produced in a local court and was remanded to police custody for two days, he said.
