A 25-year-old woman from Dehradun was allegedly raped by a man whom she befriended on a social networking site.
According to police, the woman and the accused, Harmik Singh, came to know each other through a social networking site and were in touch with each other for the past several months.
On September 2, the victim came to Amritsar to meet Singh at a hotel here.
The woman alleged that Singh gave her tea laced with some sedatives following which she fell unconscious. The accused then raped the woman in the hotel, police said.
After the incident, the victim went back to Dehradun and told her mother about it following which police arrested Singh.
A case has been registered against the accused and the matter is being investigated, police added.
