A young man from Khirsara village near Kalavad road here was today arrested for allegedly sending a parcel bomb with an intention to kill his sister's former live-in partner in Dwarka town of Devbhoomi-Dwarka district, police said.

On September 9, the staff of Okha Post Office near Dwarka recieved a parcel, bearing the delivery address of one Dharam Devmurari, a wedding photographer living at Rameshwar road in Dwarka town.

"The staff found some wires coming out of the parcel and informed their superiors. Suspecting a bomb inside, they called local police and Bomb Disposal Squad. As suspected, they found a handmade bomb attached with Lord Ganesha's photoframe and circuit," Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Rajkot Range D R Patel told reporters here.

"It was revealed that the bomb would explode if someone connects the photoframe with electricity. Since the parcel was having sender's address, Dwarka police passed that information to us. We arrested accused Bharat Sarvaiya late last night," said Patel.

Police investigation revealed that Sarvaiya's sister Aarti fell in love with Devmurari and started living with him in February, which didn't go well with Aarti's family.

"Later, her family somehow managed to bring her back to Khirsara. Sarvaiya learned about Devmurari's movements and decided to kill him, as he suspected that Devmurari may spoil their reputation," said Patel.

According to police, Sarvaiya is a diploma holder in Software Engineering and is working at a private factory in Rajkot.

"To kill Devmurari, he prepared a bomb using some kind of explosive substance. Sarvaiya admitted that he found the technique to build this bomb on internet. As per his plan, the bomb would explode as soon as electricity is passed on to the circuit of the photoframe," said Patel.
