Man arrested for smuggling 2 kg gold at airport

A man was arrested at NSC Bose International airport here today for allegedly trying to smuggle gold bars by hiding them inside laptop, the police said.

A middle-aged man, Sunny Ali, was stopped by customs officials at the airport after they suspected him of carrying some heavy article in his laptop handbag when he was walking out with other passengers.

They asked him to switch on the laptop but it did not work as its inside was stuffed with 2 kg gold bars, airport sources said.

Ali was travelling from Hong Kong to Kolkata in a Dragon Airlines flight early this morning.
 

He was arrested and the gold bars were seized, the police said.
