The arrested have been identified as Rohit Chugh, a resident of Gurgaon. With his arrest, five snatching cases have been solved, Chhaya Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), said.

Chug was arrested during a surprise check in Panchsheel Park yesterday.

He told police that he and his associate used to identify the victims and follow them to lonely places and commit snatching.

"Some times, they would request the victim to give his mobile phone for making an urgent call. After getting the phone, they would just dial a number and flee with the phone," Sharma said.

Twenty-four mobile phones have been allegedly recovered from him.

Chug also allegedly used to dispose of the snatched mobiles by issuing fake bills in the name of Om Communications in Gurgaon to gain confidence of the purchaser. His associate Mohd Jamman is absconding.
