Man arrested for supplying illegal weapons

A man was arrested for allegedly supplying illegal sophisticated weapons to criminals of Delhi and NCR region, police said today.

Raju Dabar (30), a resident of village Bariya of Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh was arrested on specific input yesterday when he came to deliver the consignment to one Robin near Anand Vihar ISBT, a senior police official said.

"A trap was laid and at the instance of the informer, Raju was overpowered after a brief scuffle and four revolvers of .32 bore, six pistols of 7.65 bore and 10 live cartridges were recovered from him," Additional CP (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said.
 

The weapons recovered were manufactured with high proficiency and skill, and appears to be genuine. One can hardly find that it is an imitation, Yadav added.

Raju, belonging to a tribal family, was the aide of Sarwan, an arms manufacturer from Dhar.

In February, Crime Branch sleuths had caught a huge consignment of illegal weapons including 9mm carbine machine gun and nine other sophisticated weapons of different bore and arrested three persons.

During investigation, it was revealed that the illegal weapons were being manufactured in Munger (Bihar) and Dhar (Madhya Pradesh).

It came to fore that a gang was involved in the sale and supply of illegal arms and ammunition in Delhi and NCR Region and they were getting these weapons manufactured in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh from one Sarwan, the official said.

During interrogation, Raju said the gang was headed by Sarwan from Dhar. He was involved in the illegal trade of weapons for the last four to five years and has supplied more than 200-250 sophisticated weapons to the gangsters of Delhi, NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana.

Raju alongwith Sarwan, were in touch with various persons of Delhi, NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and other parts of the country, indulged in sale and supply of illegal weapons.

A .32 bore pistol was sold at Rs 20,000-Rs 25,000, while a .32 bore revolver was sold at Rs 15,000- Rs 20,000, the official informed.
