Man arrested for uploading nude photos of woman

A Ludhiana-based man has been arrested for allegedly uploading nude pictures of a woman on social media websites and intimidating and blackmailing her, the police said today.

Kapurthala Senior Superintendent of Police Sandip Kumar Sharma said the accused is a resident of Tarsem colony, Ludhiana, and was arrested on the complaint of a female student of a nearby private university.

The student had filed the complaint on October 5 alleging that someone had uploaded her nude photographs on multiple social media webites by creating her fake accounts, said the SSP.

An investigation team, headed by Assistant Superintendent Police Dyama Harish, got help of Facebook legal cell which provided the Internet Protocol (IP) address which led to the arrest of the man, he said.
 

Sharma said the accused was a "shrewd" cyber criminal and was wanted in three similar cases by the Ludhiana Police.

He was arrested under sections 292 (sale of obscene books etc), 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC and Sections 66/67 of The Information and Technology Act, said the SSP.
