A 45-year-old man was arrested and a juvenile apprehended for their alleged involvement in a burglary of Rs 9.20 lakh from a godown of a scrap dealer in central Delhi, police said today.

Shri Hargopal, a resident of west Uttam Nagar, informed the police that his godown in Minto Road had been burgled.

When he came to his godown on Tuesday, he noticed that the ventilation window was broken and a bag containing Rs 10 lakh and some documents was found stolen from a cupboard kept in the godown, the police said.

It was found that one rickshaw-puller Sabir was missing after the incident. The police team conducted a raid at his native village in Bulandshahar, Uttar Pradesh, along with Hargopal, but it was found that he had returned to Delhi, they said.

It was found that Sabir would come to Kashmere Gate bus stand. He was nabbed and a bag containing Rs 9.20 lakh and Hargopal's cheque book was seized. A juvenile was also apprehended along with him, the police said.

During interrogation, Sabir revealed that he used to visit Hargopal's godown on a regular basis. He was aware that a huge amount of cash has been kept in the cupboard of the godown, Mandeep Singh Randhawa, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), said.

He planned to steal the money and procured the key of the cupboard two-three days before the burglary.
