Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Mohammad Zakir from near Akshardham in east Delhi two days ago when he came to sell a consignment to a contact here, DCP (Crime) Sanjay Kumar Jain said.

Zakir works as a polish man in a brass factory in Muradabad and belongs to a poor family.

"About nine months ago, he met one Mehmood of Bareilly who used to visit his village to deliver consignment of heroin to one Sadab. He got attracted towards his dealings due to easy money. In the meantime, Sadab was arrested in a drug peddling case. Then Zakir started procuring heroin from Mehmood and started selling it in his village," Jain said.
