A 42-year-old man was arrested for alleged possession of the banned mephedrone (MD) drug worth Rs 1.6 lakh in Dongri area here, the police said on Tuesday.
Following a tip-off, police officials caught Imtiyaz Ahmed Rangoonwala on Meisheri Road and seized 55 gm of MD, worth Rs 1.6 lakh, from his possession on late Monday night.
Assistant commissioner of police Avinash Dharmadhikari said, "Imtiaz is said to be working for drug peddler Shoaib Pathan. He has no previous criminal record."
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, he added.
