Man attacks ex-wife's family, kills her father

Angered by the second marriage of his divorced wife, a man, along with his brother and other accomplices, today attacked her family with pistols, knives and petrol bombs killing her father and injuring five others, police said.

Vikram (30), who was married to Suman in 2009 but separated from her two years later following a dispute, has been arrested for the attack which left Suman's father Om Prakash (55) dead.

When police reached the spot, Vikram threatened that he is a human bomb and would set himself off, following which the bomb disposal squad was called which found some wires and other stuff on his body. He was, however, apprehended.
 

Prakash's wife Basiwati Devi (53), two sons, Jai Prakash (32) and Mohan (27), daughter Suman (29) and Jai Prakash's wife Sunita were injured in the incident.

Sunita, Suman and Basiwati were stabbed by the assailants when they tried to intervene in the matter while Mohan and Jai Prakash sustained gun shots in the incident.

As per police, the incident took place at around 1 am when all the family members were sleeping at a house in Meethapur Extension under the jurisdiction of Jaitpur police station of south-east Delhi.

"Vikram entered the house and first attacked his ex-father-in-law, Om Prakash, who was sleeping at the entrance gate of the house on a cot. He first fired bullets at him and then stabbed him several times. Hearing the gunshots and commotion, when his elder son, Jai Prakash came outside, the attackers targeted him as well," said a police official.

Thereafter, Basiwati, Madan Mohan and Suman came out only to be attacked by the Vikram's accomplices who, according to the victims, were around four in numbers. They also injured Sunita with sharp-edged weapons.
