A 50-year-old man allegedly attacked his widowed sister-in-law and her daughter before committing suicide over some property dispute in Hathiabojh Dareri village here, police said today.
Keshav Ram hanged himself to death after seriously injuring his widowed sister-in-law Dhanwanti and her 12-year-old daughter Shivani late last night, they said.
Keshav, who had been claiming his share in 12 bighas of land under his sister-in-law's possession, barged into her hutment following which he attacked Dhanwanti and her daughter with a sharp-edged weapon, police said.
Taking them as dead, he fled to his fields on the outskirts of the village and allegedly hanged himself from a tree, they said, adding that Dhanwanti and her daughter were rushed to a hospital by their neighbours.
