Upset over the denial by a nationalised bank to grant an educational loan for his daughter, a 50-year-old man allegedly tried to commit suicide in the bank at nearby Mettur, officials said.
He has been hospitalised and is stated to be in a serious condition.
The officials said the man had applied for a loan at SBI for his daughter to pursue her engineering course, but bank officials reportedly kept asking him for various documents.

Frustrated, he consumed poison in the managers room. He was immediately rushed to the government hospital at Mettur, they said.
