Man awarded triple life sentence for murders, 83 years for

In a case that involved the murder of a couple and multiple attacks on five others, a man was convicted and sentenced to triple life imprisonments and 83 years in prison by a court here today.

Ramanathapuram Mahila Court Judge Ram convicted D Pazhanivel (39) for murdering a man and his wife brutally with a crowbar after inflicing grievous injuries following a tiff in 2013.

He sentenced the convict to separate life imprisonments for the murder of the man and for the murder of his wife and a third life imprisonment for criminal house tresspass with the intention to murder.
 

He also convicted and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for inflicting grievous injuries (40 years), attempt to murder (40 years), using deadly weapons (three years), for using vulgar words (two months) on five others who happened to be in the neighbourhood.

Together, he was sentenced to 83 years and two months in prison.

The judge also slapped a fine of Rs 70,000 on him.

After the judgement, Pazhanivel was taken to Madurai central prison.
