Suspecting his lover of cheating on him, a 22-year-old man today axed her to death and tried to kill himself in Selaqui area here.
Pankaj went to his lover's home at 6 AM and as soon as she opened the door, he assaulted her with an axe, SP (Rural) T D Bela said.
Bleeding profusely, the 20-year-old woman succumbed to injuries while being rushed to the hospital, he said.
Pankaj also tried to kill himself soon after assualting his lover by cutting his vein and consuming poison but was rushed to the hospital where his condition is said to be stable, Bela said.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the duo were in a relationship but the man suspected his lover of having an affair with another guy.
"Pankaj has not been arrested. We are waiting for his recovery so that he could be interrogated," the SP said.
