Man beaten to death by friend in Kamla Market

A 30-year-old man was beaten to death allegedly by one of his friends, who owed him money and had not repaid, in Kamla Market area of the national capital.

According to police, Amir had beaten to death his friend Jahangir in Kamla Market here yesterday night.

Amir was arrested today evening, police said and added that he has been booked under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC.

Seriously injured Jahangir was rushed by some locals to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to injuries, police said.

The hospital authorities had called the police to report the incident.

"From preliminary investigation it seemed that injuries on his body were caused after being beaten up severely. His body was immediately sent for a post mortem examination," Alok Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police (central), said.
 

He said that interrogation of a few locals revealed that the victim was allegedly beaten up and one of the accused was identified.

"Whether more people are involved in the alleged murder is yet to be ascertained," the officer said.

After the incident came to light, relatives of the victim had held a protest outside the Kamla Market police station demanding immediate arrest of the accused.
