Man beaten up for refusing money for purchasing liquor

A 35-year-old man was brutally beaten up by two youths when he refused to give them money for buying liquor in Modinagar area of Ghaziabad.

The victim, whose condition is said to be critical, has been identified as Debesh Shukla.

The incident took place last night when Shukla was going to his house situated in Modipon Colony of the district.

"When Shukla was going to his house, two youths - Monty and Babu, who are local goons, stopped him and asked him to give them money for buying liquor. Shukla refused to do so," said a senior police officer.

Monty and Babu then started beating him brutally.
 

When locals rushed towards Shukla to save him from the duo, they fled the spot.

"After the incident, Shukla was rushed to a nearby hospital from where he was referred to a Meerut hospital. His condition is said to be critical," he said.

Based on a complaint filed by Shukla's parents, a case has been registered against them.
