Man bludgeons father-in-law to death

A 22-year-old autorickshaw driver from Dombivili here has been arrested for allegedly bludgeoning his father-in-law to death, police said today.

According to Sr PI SB Shivarkar of Dombivili police station, the incident took place late last night when accused Bhurya Ramesh Chandanshive smashed the head of his father-in-law Ashok Haribhau Balkhande (40) with a huge stone leaving him dead on the spot.

The murder took place in Jyoti Nagar at Ahire village, where the accused lived with his wife Pratibha.

Ramesh doubted the character of Pratibha and used to constantly demand dowry from her family which led to frequent quarrels, police said.
 

In one such altercation yesterday, when the woman's parents, who were present at the home that time tried to intervene and pacify Ramesh, he got angry and attacked Ashok.

A case was lodged on the basis of a complaint by his mother-in-law Sunanda Ashok Balkhande (39) under sections 302, 323 and 504 of the IPC.
