Man booked for hurting religious sentiments of wife

Police here have booked a 30-year-old man on charges of fraud and hurting religious sentiments after his wife filed a complaint against him alleging that he had "lured" her into marriage after lying about his religion.

The woman, a mother of two, approached Inspector General of Police (IG) after Akran allegedly married another girl, police said.

On the directions of IG Bareilly zone, Vijay Kumar Meena, police yesterday booked Akran under sections 295 A of IPC ( Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 498 A (Husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506(Punishment for criminal intimidation).
 

Police said that the couple had been married for seven years and have two children.

The accused and the victim are missing, Station In-charge Surender Singh said.
