A 27-year-old wage labourer burnt his six-year-old daughter to death after his wife whom he suspected of having an extra-marital affair managed to escape his wrath in Rajasthan's Bundi district, police said today.
According to police, the incident took place around 11 PM yesterday at Parpadia village in Dhabi police station area of the district when the accused, Raju, returned home drunk and tried to pour kerosene on his wife.
After his wife managed to escape from home, Raju then poured kerosene on his daughter Seema who was sleeping at home and set her on fire.
Seema died in hospital today morning, Dhabi police station SHO Vijay Singh said, adding that the accused too sustained burn injury in the event and is now undergoing treatment at the Maharao Bheem Singh Hospital in Bundi.
Police have booked the accused under section 302 of the IPC. The girl's body was handed over to her mother and other family members today after a post-mortem, the SHO added.
