Man carrying drugs in undergarments held at Delhi airport

A 35-year-old Colombo-bound man was apprehended at the Delhi airport today for allegedly trying to smuggle out drugs worth Rs 60,000 by concealing it in his undergarments, the CISF said.

A senior Central Industrial Security Force official said the incident was reported in the wee hours today when A S M Jubair was intercepted by the force personnel at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport.

He said the passenger, travelling to Colombo in Sri Lanka, was detected carrying the contraband packed in three packets in his "undergarments", when he was being frisked.

"The contraband has been identified as heroin and it weighs 122 grams. The estimated market value of the drugs is Rs 60,000," the official said.
 

The man has been handed over to the Customs authorities, he said.
