Man carrying Rs 25,000 reward on him arrested

A 25-year-old man, involved in various cases including assault on police personnel and carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head, was arrested here, police said today.

On September 10, 2015, an in-charge of a police control room van noticed a suspicious vehicle without a number plate outside the DTC Depot in Ambedkar Nagar and tried to question the occupants.

The occupants of the vehicle hit the PCR van and fled from the spot, they added.

The policemen followed them but the occupants pelted stones at the police vehicle.

During the investigation, the four of accused, Mubarak alias Mubbi, Irfan, Sabir Ali and Javed were arrested but Hamid evaded the arrest.
 

He could not be arrested and a reward of Rs 25,000 was announced on him by the Commissioner of Delhi Police, the police said.

On October 5, the police learnt about Hamid visiting his in-laws' place in Alwar, Rajasthan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) PS Kushwah said.

A raid was conducted and he was arrested from there, he said.

Hamid belongs to Mewat in Haryana and was found to be involved in cases of assault on police party, dacoity, cattle thefts etc, in Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan, he added.

Hamid used to travel in a Tata tempo that was modified by affixing an iron girder on front and rear side bumpers so that in case they are stopped by the police they can hit their vehicles and barricades while fleeing, the officer said.

They used to keep chilli powder and small stones inside their vehicle and used these on the police personnel following them, he said.

Hamid confessed to operating in Delhi, Gurgaon and Rajasthan.
