Man caught taking bribe on behalf of SHO

The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) here today arrested one person for accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh on behalf of a Station House Officer (SHO).

Vinod Kumar was arrested today while accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh on behalf of Jodharam Gurjar, Station House Officer (SHO) of Modak police station, SP, ACB Kota, Priti Chandra said.

However, the SHO, who was also present at the spot, managed to flee.

Jodharam had demanded a bribe of Rs 15 lakh from one Arvind, a Doda-Posth contractor for settling a NDPS case, Chandra said, adding, the contractor brought this matter to the notice of ACB who verified the complaint yesterday.
 

A trap was laid today by the ACB who arrested Kumar when he was accepting a part of the bribe amount on behalf of Gurjar from contractor's aide Bhagwati Prashad, Additional Superintend Police (ASP), ACB, Devendra Kumar Sharma said.

A case under the relevant sections has been lodged against SHO Gurjar and Kumar, Sharma said, adding, Kumar will be produced before the court tomorrow.

Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP), ACB Kota Gopal Singh Kanawat said search operations at Gurjar's official residence at Modak Police Station are on but the details of the search findings would be revealed after the operation is over.
