Man charred to death in godown fire in Coimbatore

A 40-year-old man was charred to death, allegedly in a fire that broke out in a plastic godown here today, police said.

Passers-by noticed the smoke emanating from the building and informed Fire and Rescue Services personnel, who rushed to the spot and managed to put it out after nearly an hour, they said.

The fire personnel noticed the charred body of Ketan Kalla, from Kolkata, in the second room of the godown-cum-residence.

The deceased was staying alone and had stocked plastic products like lunch boxes there, police said adding the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
