Man chases down thieves after being robbed

A robber was arrested when a call centre operator along with his friend in a BMW car chased down three bike-borne criminals who robbed them and tried to escape in Adarsh Nagar area of northwest Delhi, police said today.

Tilak Nagar resident Varun Behal who runs a call centre was going to Model Town along with his friend Kabir in his BMW car, early yesterday. He had stopped the car at Adarsh Nagar around 4.45 AM when three men on a bike reached there, said a police officer.

When the trio tried to rob Varun on gunpoint he resisted at which they resorted to firing in the air. They looted cash of Rs 1 lakh, and gold jewellery from Varun and escaped on their bike.
 

Varun and his friend gave chase to the escaping robbers and were soon joined by a police patrol car that was alerted by sound of firing.

Near Azadpur Complex, Varun managed to tail the bike of the robbers and hit it from behind. The trio fell down and while two managed to escape by resorting to firing, one of them was caught.

The arrested robber was identified as Sagar, a resident of Raghuvir Nagar, who has several criminal cases against him. He is being interrogated for information about his accomplices, added the officer.
