A man here committed suicide by consuming poison while his wife attempted suicide by shooting herself from a pistol, but survived, after heated arguments, police said today.
Sudhir (40) and his wife Neetu (36), residents of Vivekanand Nagar colony here had heated arguments over Neethu's alleged illicit relations with their tenant Yashpal, SHO Avdhesh Yadav said.
Altercation between husband and wife reached an extreme extent and Sudhir consumed poison while Neetu shot at herself with Sudhir's pistol.
Both were immediately rushed to a private hospital by another tenant, where doctors declared Sudhir dead.
Neetu is undergoing treatment.
Police have recovered two pages long suicide note in which Sudhir alleged that he is committing suicide due to suspicion on extra-marital affair between his wife and tenant.
Police have detained Yash Pal for interrogation.
We are waiting the recovery of Neetu to register her statement, police said.
