A man allegedly committed suicide this morning by hanging himself from the ceiling of his shop in Sadhna Enclave colony of Khoda here, police said.
Rajneesh, an owner of a mobile shop, had eloped with a woman living in the neighbourhood on March 18 but had returned home after a few days, SHO Khoda police station Arun Kumar said.
He took the extreme step as he was apparently depressed over being rebuked by his family members for eloping with the woman, he said.
The incident came to light when in the afternoon his brother Avneesh went to the shop and found the shutter down with locks open. He raised the shutter and found Rajneesh hanging from the ceiling.
The body has been sent for post-mortem. No suicide note has been recovered from the spot, the SHO said.
