A 35-year-old man, also the vice-president of a national political party's Karawal Nagar Zone, allegedly hanged himself from a ceiling fan at his residence, police said today.

The deceased, identified as Ravindra Kumar Chauhan alias Monu, whose father is a head constable with Delhi Police, left a suicide note in which he blamed his wife and in-laws for him taking the extreme step, said police.

Chauhan, who was the vice-president of BJP's Karawal Nagar Zone, worked in an automobile company and got married in 2005. He lived with his family in northeast Delhi's Karawal Nagar area, said police.

Chauhan's relatives told the police that a few months ago, his wife had left with their two-year-old daughter after a heated argument and did not return despite Chauhan repeatedly requesting his in-laws to convince her, said police.

Chauhan was depressed and on Tuesday night he called up his wife, requesting her to come back. On being refused, he allegedly hanged himself in his room, his relatives told police.

Chauhan's body was handed over to his relatives after postmortem examination and a probe has been initiated in the case, police said.
