Narendra Mahure was caught by police last night. Today morning he consumed phenyl in the lockup at Kandipura police station, following which he was taken to district hospital from where he was referred to a hospital in Nagpur.
Accusing ASP Vineet Jain and police station in-charge S K Seth of framing him in a false case, Mahure alleged they had tortured him the whole night and that is why he took the step.
Chhindwara SP Ashish has ordered a probe into the incident.
