A 60-year-old woman was shot dead allegedly by his son, while he was out on parole after being convicted of killing his father about seven years ago, police said today.

The accused, Lokesh (35), serving life imprisonment, had an argument with his mother allegedly over a land dispute and later shot her several times, they said.

The incident took place last evening when victim Kripali, former head of Baphar village was feeding livestock near her home. When his cousin Veer Singh tried to intervene, the accused also hit him with the butt of the weapon, police said.

Lokesh had been serving life imprisonment since 2007 for murdering his father apparently for evicting him from his 24 bigha (about 5 acres) property. He had been granted parole by the Allahabad High Court.

The motive for this murder is also suspected to be the same land dispute, police said.

Lokesh and his wife against whom several cases of loot and robbery are registered are absconding, they said.
