Man detained for throwing pamphlets in Maha Assembly

A man was detained today in Maharashtra Assembly for allegedly flinging pamphlets from spectators gallery.

The person, a youth from Pune district, shouted slogans like "down with Manuwad and Brahminism", and "Justice for Rohith Vemula" while throwing the pamphlets, an Assembly official said.

He also shouted slogans decrying 'Brahminism'.

Among the papers he threw were photocopies of 'Manusmriti'. He was whisked away by Vidhan Bhawan security personnel.

Authorities are trying to ascertain on whose recommendation the activist, named Sachin Kharat, was accorded entry in the Assembly.
