Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today said a man detained earlier under the National Security Act (NSA), who is now on the run, masterminded an attack on a night club near here.

A group of around 30 masked men had ransacked the night club at Nerul, 9 kms from Panaji, on August 22, 2013.

Former NSA detainee Zenito Cardoso has been identified as the person behind the attack, Parrikar, who also holds Home Portfolio told the state Legislative Assembly today.

"Cardoso has been absconding since then and police is trying to track him down," he said.

Police have already arrested five persons involved in the attack and a district investigation team headed by a SP has been formed to arrest all the accused, he said.

"There is involvement of lot of people in the crime. All the relevant material has been given to the team. There will be no stone unturned to crack down this case," Parrikar said responding to a question raised by Independent legislator Vijay Sardesai.

BJP legislator Michael Lobo, participating in the debate, demanded a thorough inquiry into the incident.
