A 20-year-old man died after he was allegedly assaulted with a cricket bat following a heated argument with two juveniles in north Delhi's Subzi Mandi area.

The incident happened yesterday. Police said that the victim Angad Gupta, a resident of Sita Sharan colony in Subzi Mandi area, was passing through the area where local youths were playing gully cricket.

The cricket ball accidentally hit Gupta, who was enraged at the youths. Following an argument, he slapped a juvenile, who was playing there but locals calmed the situation and separated them, police said.

Gupta, who worked at an eatery, left for his workplace.

They hit him with a cricket bat on the neck. He collapsed on the spot, they added.

The attackers fled from the spot after hitting him. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.
