A 28-year-old man fell from the railing of Rithala water sewer plant into a 25-feet deep tank, police said today.

The deceased identified as Wasim was painting the railing when he slipped and fell into the tank yesterday, they added.

The police have registered a case on the basis of a complaint given by another labourer, Yogendra, who alleged that they were not given safety gear, the police said, adding Wasim's body was found after six hours.

Both the men were engaged in painting the railing of the plant when Wasim slipped and fell. Yogender brought a rope and tried to rescue him but the water was quite deep and he could not see Wasim, they added.

Subsequently, the police, Delhi Jal Board officials and the Delhi Fire Service were informed and Wasim's body was found, the police said.

Police are probing the matter.
