In a tragic fallout of a domestic quarrel, a 52-year-man died today after consuming toxic pesticide while his 25-year-old daughter-in-law was battling for life in hospital, police said.
The incident took place at Biswanathpur village, about 60 km from here. The deceased has been identified as Dushashan Sethy, police said.
Family members had differences over a domestic matter. Irked by the quarrel, Dushashan, the family head, consumed pesticide and later daughter-in-law Sarojini Sethy (25) followed suit.

While Dushashan died on the way to a nearby hospital, Sarojini has been shifted to SCB Medical College and hospital in critical condition, Inspector, Rajkanika police station, Bijoy Mallick said adding that the circumstances leading to the incident were being investigated.
A case has been registered in this connection, he added.
