A 55-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a private nursing home in Meerut, police said today.

Chandrapal Singh was admitted after he complained of fever and vomiting to Dayanand Nursing Home, where he was kept in the general ward. His body was found yesterday in the nursing home gallery, Inspector Iqbal Ahmed said today.

Family members of the deceased have alleged that Singh was pushed from the terrace by the staff members of the nursing home. They also alleged that though the incident was reported to the police two days back but no FIR has been registered.

They have also alleged that the police is not registering an FIR as the nursing home is owned by Samajwadi Party MLC Sarojini Agarwal.

On the other hand, the police have said Singh committed suicide as he was suffering from depression.

According to the police, the deceased was an alcoholic and he was in depression as he did not get alcohol for the past few days, following which he committed suicide.

But the police could not explain as to why no staff member was around when the incident occurred.

According to the complaint, one day before the incident, the family members of the patient had a spat with the hospital staff over their indifference with Singh.

Meanwhile, Sarojini Agarwal has expressed grief over the incident saying that she was in Lucknow when it occurred.
