A 40-year-old man has died under mysterious circumstances in south-west Delhi's Uttam Nagar, the police said today.

Though they said the man appeared to have died after a portion of a roof collapsed on him, the family members of the deceased alleged that he was bludgeoned to death with a concrete slab by his neighbours.

The deceased, Vasant, lived with his family members in a rented accommodation at Krishna Colony. He had recently opened a grocery shop on the ground floor of the building.

Last night, the police were informed that Vasant was lying in a pool of blood. They rushed him to a hospital where the doctors declared him "brought dead".

The police found some pieces of concrete around the spot where Vasant's body was found.

The wife of the deceased has alleged that her husband was bludgeoned to death by his neighbours, with whom they did not have cordial relations.
