Man done to death over alleged role in 31-year-old murder case

A 50-year-old man from tribal Jawhar taluka here was brutally done to death by another villager who suspected the former's involvement in the murder of his grandmother 31 years back, police said today.

According to API Keshavrao Naik of the Jawhar police station, the victim, identified as Pandu Shivram Bartade was killed on Sunday when he was working on his farm alongwith his wife Sundari.

Accused Laxman Indrya Chowdhari attacked Shivram with bamboo and other sharp objects killing him on the spot near the farm well, police said.

Chowdhari suspected that Shivram had killed his grandmother Jamni Rama Chowdhari 31 years ago and wanted to avenge the murder, Sundari's police complaint said.
 

Jawahar police has registered an offence under section 302 and 452 against Laxman Chowdhari and arrested him.
